We will soon be seeing this majestic steam engine, numbered 45305 back on the tracks again in its full working glory. Following a recent overhaul and now boasting a new boiler, this majestic steam engine will soon be once again taking soujourns across the main rail networks.
Restored by the Draper family, this popular engine is very close to our hearts here at the Drapers Yard in Raven Street, as we saved it from being scrapped over 40 years ago. This historic steam engine survived to the last month of steam in 1968 on British Railways. Following its restoration, the very popular steam engine has since been actively working, making lots of journeys out onto the Great Central Railway, as well as the main networks.
In its full LMS livery, the Alderman Albert Draper will soon be embarking on a new chapter, making its way up and down the tracks in all its splendour and steaming proudly into 2019 and beyond.
Some of our more recent investment on our three acre site in Raven Street here in Hull, has been focussed on installation of leading vehicle depollution and fuel recovery equipment. This is for end of life vehicles which is an important part of our recycling process.
Our investment in advanced Vehicle Depollution Equipment reflects our commitment to protecting the environment.
Our Vehicle Depollution System includes a Fuel Tank Drill for draining diesel and petrol from metal or plastic tanks.
A unique vapour removal system called a Fuel Scavenger vents dangerous and explosive petrol vapour out of our depollution bay.
A VapourSafe Storage System then creates a sealed vapour transfer system that provides us with a safe working environment.
We are delighted to have a regular advert airing on Hull Kingston Radio, which is one of the biggest community radio stations in the area and supports local Hull businesses.

The Scrap Metal Dealers Act which came into effect in late 2013 had a very positive effect on the industry. The Act was introduced to reduce the theft of metal which at its peak, the Home Office estimated to cost the economy more than £220 million per year. This Act outlawed the payment of cash for scrap metal by recyclers and also required every scrap metal dealer to obtain a licence to trade from their local authority.
With national theft figures on the rise again, reflecting the increased cost of commodities, there is strong support in the industry for the Scrap Metal Dealers Act to be tightened. Enforcement of the Act through re-establishment of the Metal Theft Taskforce has also received significant support nationally.
