Black 5

This locomotive escaped being scrapped at Draper’s scrapyard. Privately owned by the Draper family, Black 5 is maintained by the 5305 Locomotive Group based in Loughborough.

Most of it’s life in preservation it has been based in Hull, and has worked many main line tours. It moved to Loughborough in 1996 for the completion of it’s overhaul.

The locomotive passed its hydraulic test in March 2003 and its steam test on 14 April 2003. It returned to service on August 3rd 2003. This locomotive has been on the main line since the summer of 2006.
